Afro Innovation Group aims to empower and enable asylum seekers and migrants to rebuild their lives and become an integral part of their local community. Our support includes:
Advice, advocacy and befriending to support immigration and family reunion, and enabling access to health and other mainstream services. Housing and homelessness support with local partners (Local Authorities, Health Authorities, charities and community organisations. Skills development, training and volunteering opportunities to improve employability.
After18 works with asylum-seeking and refugee young people up to the age of 25 who are living in Leicester and the surrounding area. Established in 2013, we now work with over 200 young people every year. We aim to be a consistent long-term point of reference and safe space, and to create a sense of belonging for young refugees. Led by their needs, we have evolved a specialised programme of educational and wellbeing activities to enable them to improve their educational opportunities and social support networks and build confidence in their own cultural identity.
Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland promotes the well-being of all older people, over the age of fifty years, by helping to make life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience and we are committed to ensuring they maintain their dignity and recognise their value as individuals.
Our main aim is to develop services that reflect the needs and wishes of all older people living locally.
We believe that dignity, privacy and independence can be maintained by providing opportunities for older people to develop new skills and knowledge, form and continue friendships and to have their views listened to.
As an Educational Charity in the Inner City, We provide free Basic Numeracy and Literacy help to adults who cannot read or write. Over 90% of the Adults who come to our venue are unemployed and cannot engage in meaningful employment due to poor Literacy Skills. These adults do not have access to an Internet connection or a home Computer. They come to our centre for advice and guidance.

Working to improve the lives of people in Braunstone through a range of services, including: Foodbank, Food Pantry, Be-friending for over 55's, Men's Groups, Mental Health projects, volunteer opportunities and training, community activities, health promotion, a Community Hub with a Community Café and a wide range of children and Young Peoples activities.
Baby Basics Leicester is a volunteer-led charity aiming to support families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby or young child. We provide much needed essentials and equipment for free on a referral basis.
All of our Telephone Befrienders are DBS checked. Our aim is to address the issue of loneliness and how it affects peoples health. We work through GP surgeries and the Social Prescribers (NHS) and Local Area Coordinators (Social Services) who identify people we can support. The Befrienders call the Befriendees on a regular basis to chat and check all is OK. 6 monthly reviews are carried out with the Befrienders to check all is OK with them.
