This week people attending Leicestershire County Cricket Ground will be able to get the Covid vaccine while they enjoy the match, as well as access a range of other health advice.

During the Leicestershire and India match between Thursday 23 and Sunday 26 June, a mobile vaccination unit will be inside the Ground, offering first, second and third vaccine doses as well as first and second boosters, to anyone who is eligible.

This Thursday and Friday, the clinic is open to people aged 16+ from 9.30am to 6.30pm and children aged 5 to 15 can attend from 3pm until 6.30pm. On Saturday and Sunday, the clinic is open to those aged 5+ from 9.30am to 6.30pm.

A second mobile unit will be offering a range of other health services and advice including information on how to register with a GP practice and checks for high blood pressure. There will also be information on the Get the Ball Rolling mental health campaign, bowel cancer screening and abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, which checks if there is a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel that runs from the heart down through the abdomen.

Dr Caroline Trevithick, Executive Director of Nursing, Quality and Performance and Deputy Chief Executive of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Groups, said: “We are continuing to make it as easy as possible for  people to get the Covid jab, with pop-up clinics in handy locations and mobile vaccine units visiting different neighbourhoods and events over the summer.

“Unfortunately, Covid levels are increasing again, so we are urging anyone who is due for a Covid jab to have it now. This is even more important if you have a health condition which makes you more vulnerable to serious illness due to Covid, or if you live with someone who is vulnerable. Please protect yourself and others and get each dose of the vaccine when it is due.”
