The local NHS has said a big ‘thank you’ to staff involved in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Covid vaccination delivery programme, at a special conference this month held at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.

The conference, organised by the NHS Workforce Bureau was a celebration of what the programme has achieved, an opportunity to share good practice and hear from leaders of the programme.

Since the start of this huge programme of work in 2020, nearly 3,500 applicants have been recruited across a range of roles including administrators, healthcare assistants, vaccinators, clinical supervisors and pharmacists.  At any one time there are approximately 680 people ready to deploy to vaccination sites across LLR.

The vaccination programme attracted people from many walks of life, as paid staff and volunteers, many of whom had never worked for the NHS before. The hope is that some of these individuals will be inspired to seek further opportunities within the NHS. The event also included a chance for delegates to learn more about training and recruitment opportunities in healthcare, to serve our local population.

We went along to meet some of the people who have helped to deliver this unprecedented vaccination programme and to find out more about the range of job opportunities available in our local NHS.

There are a wide range of clinical, non-clinical and admin related roles as well as volunteering opportunities within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Whether you want to work in the community, in a hospital or healthcare setting or support people to stay well at home, there are roles available for many different types of services, conditions and age ranges.  We offer a wide range of benefits, including flexible working policies and health and wellbeing support, as well as career progression.
