If you have previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer and are identified through NHS records, you may receive a letter inviting you to join the Prostate Progress Register.

What is Prostate Progress?

Prostate Progress is a national, ethics-approved research programme led by Prostate Cancer Research in partnership with the NHS.

The programme brings together information from people affected by prostate cancer, including their experiences and quality of life, alongside routine NHS health data. By collecting information from thousands of people across the UK, researchers can build a better understanding of the impact of prostate cancer and its treatment.

Why does it matter?

While researchers already have access to information about the treatments people receive, they know less about what life is like during and after treatment.

By sharing their experiences, participants can help researchers understand what matters most to people living with and beyond prostate cancer. This insight can help improve diagnosis, treatment, support services, survivorship care and quality of life for future generations affected by prostate cancer.

Do I have to take part?

Taking part in Prostate Progress is entirely voluntary. If you receive an invitation, it will include information about the programme and how to decide whether you would like to participate.

When will I receive my invitation?

Invitation letters will be sent to eligible individuals during the weeks commencing 31 August 2026 and 7 September 2026. If you are invited to take part, your letter will provide further information about the Prostate Progress Register and what participation involves.

More information about the project can be found on the Prostate Cancer Research webpages and the NHS England webpages.
