ADHD support services in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

ADHD Solutions was a Leicester-based organisation which provided a range of information, help and support for children, young people, and adults with ADHD. It ceased operations in December 2024.

The services ADHD Solutions provided were comprehensive, inclusive and highly valued by the people who used them, and by local health, education and social care organisations that worked with them. Representatives of these organisations have been working together to establish new services. This work has been shaped by the views of people who previously accessed the support of ADHD Solutions and professional networks.

This is our proposed plan of action:

Short-term

Local organisations have agreed to employ, or host as volunteers, as many staff displaced from ADHD Solutions as possible, so that they can continue to provide valuable and streamlined services.

Local NHS commissioners have been working with local voluntary and community organisations to identify opportunities to support new services.  An accessible ‘map’ of what is available will be shared as soon as this work is complete. We are also planning an event for organisations to come together to plan the next stage.

Medium term

Services to support children and young people

Details of a range of organisations and resources that offer information and support are available below.

NHS commissioners and Leicester City Council are working closely with Leicestershire County Council, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and Rutland County Council to identify service requirements.

If you are involved with – or know of any local groups or organisations – that are interested in being commissioned to provide ADHD support services to children and young people in Leicestershire or Rutland, please encourage them to contact the commissioning leads listed below:

Services to support adults

NHS commissioners and colleagues from Leicester City Council and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust are leading work to agree a single specification for support services for adults across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. They have recently invited colleagues in local organisations to showcase what they can offer so that the chances of successfully commissioning new services locally are maximised. Commissioning of a new service is now underway in order to provide a new service which will support people both pre and post diagnosis of ADHD.

Commissioners have also met with people that were accessing the services to find out what is important to them and would welcome the opportunity to continue these discussions to help inform the future plans. If you have not been a part of these discussions, and would look to have your input, please send your thoughts and feedback to: SCE-Strategic-Commissioning@leicester.gov.uk

Long-term

We are not looking for a single provider to replace the work of ADHD Solutions. We want a diverse network of organisations that offer a wide variety of support services that reflects the diverse needs of our local populations.

We will provide a further update as developments continue and would ask that local providers of support services provide their contact details to the commissioners listed above to ensure that they are kept up to date with developments.
