LLR Policy for Scar Reduction

Threshold Criteria

Complete scar removal is not possible, but most scars will gradually fade and become paler over time.  A number of treatments are available that may improve a scar’s appearance and help make it less visible.

Eligibility

LLR ICB will only fund scar reduction through injection or application of topical treatment for scars that result from, burns, trauma, or surgery when one of the following clinical criteria are met:
 
Scar is functionally disabling.
 
Scars on the face or ears which is greater than 1 cm
ARP 84 Review Date: 2027
