Following today’s global IT outage, we have issued the following statement.

“The NHS is aware of a global IT outage and an issue with a GP appointment and patient record system.

“In LLR, the following eight GP practices have been affected, and are being supported by the LLR ICB: Market Harborough Medical Centre, Pinfold Medical Practice, Long Clawson Medical Practice, Quorn Medical Centre, Station View Health Centre, Husbands Bosworth Medical Centre, The Banks Surgery and Dr SJC Clay’s Practice.

“If you have an appointment please do attend unless you are told otherwise. Please only contact these practices if urgent. If you need help use 111 online or by phone and in an emergency call 999.

“The NHS has long standing measures in place to manage the disruption, including using paper patient records and handwritten prescriptions, and the usual phone systems to contact your GP.

“There is currently no known impact on 999 or emergency services, so people should use these services as they usually would.”

Disruption to services was fortunately minimal in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and business continuity plans were effectively implemented where needed.

We are pleased to report that all systems are now back up and running as normal, including the eight GP practices who experienced disruption to the EMIS appointment and patient record system, rostering systems at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and imaging and radiotherapy services at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Systems will continue to be monitored over the coming days.
