The flu vaccination is safe and effective. It’s offered every year through the NHS to help protect people at risk of getting seriously ill from flu.

Covid-19 Vaccine

The 2024 Covid-19 spring vaccination programme is underway and vaccinating eligible cohorts to protect those who are most at risk.

It is important that everyone who is eligible takes up the vaccine offer this spring. The current vaccines provide good protection against severe disease, hospitalisation, and can protect those that are most vulnerable from death.

Immunity from previous vaccinations reduces over time so it’s essential to boost protection regularly.

Hepatitis B Vaccine

The hepatitis B vaccination is routinely available as part of the NHS vaccination schedule.

It’s also offered to people thought to be at increased risk of getting hepatitis B or its complications.

The vaccine gives protection against the hepatitis B virus, which is a major cause of serious liver disease, including scarring of the liver (cirrhosis) and liver cancer.

Chickenpox vaccine

The chickenpox vaccine protects against the varicella zoster virus that causes chickenpox.

The chickenpox vaccine is not part of the routine childhood vaccination schedule.

It’s currently only offered on the NHS to people who are in close contact with someone who’s particularly vulnerable to chickenpox or its complications.
