Five NHS initiatives in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) have been shortlisted for prestigious national awards. The Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards recognise outstanding contributions to healthcare, with the ethos of sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and innovating better services.
The five shortlisted initiatives are:
Integrated Care initiative of the year
- Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICS and University Hospitals of Leicester Trust – Chronic Kidney Disease Integrated Care Delivery Project
Medicines, Pharmacy and Prescribing initiative of the year
- Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICS and University Hospitals of Leicester Trust – LUCID (Leicester, Leicestershire, and RUtland Chronic Kidney Disease Integrated Care Delivery Project)
Reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for children and young people award
- University Hospitals of Leicester & NHS Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland ICB – Leicester Paediatric Diabetes Unit’s ‘Bridge-the-Gap’ project: Improving access to diabetes technology for children from ethnic minorities and socio-economically deprived families
Primary and Community Care provider of the year
- North West Leicestershire GP Federation – Organisational Growth, Innovation and Service Delivery during 2023/24
- SAH Diagnostics & Leicester Trust – From the most deteriorating 62-day Cancer backlog in the country, to the Top 3 most improved Trusts

The winners will be announced at the HSJ Awards Ceremony in London on 21 November 2024.
