Oakham
There are two service options currently available in Oakham to support patients with their urgent care needs when their GP practice is closed, and they need urgent treatment, including cuts and minor injuries such as sprains. The services are suitable for urgent care needs but not emergency attention.
Please use NHS 111 first
Always use NHS 111 (online, by phone or via the NHS App) if you need urgent care. They will ensure you receive the right care for your condition, in the right place and as quickly as possible. They will even arrange and appointment or arrival time slot. Help to keep Accident and Emergency free for life-threatening conditions by following this advice.
Rutland Minor Illness and Injury Service (Opens 1 April 2026)
The service will be for patients registered with GP practices in Rutland and Leicestershire for urgent but non-life‑threatening health problems.
- Booked appointments via your GP practice or NHS 111
- Initially there will be a few walk-in slots for minor injuries only
- If you do walk in, you will receive an appointment later in the day
- Staffed by an advanced clinical practitioner, supported by a GP
- This new service replaces the existing Oakham Urgent Care Centre and Oakham Minor Injury Unit, which will close on 31 March 2026, following a public consultation held in early 2025.
Location:
Rutland Memorial, Hospital, Cold Overton Rd, Oakham, LE15 6NT
Opening Hours:
- 1pm–9pm, seven days a week
- X‑ray availability: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (11am–7pm) from 13 April
Oakham Urgent Care Centre
Treatment can be accessed at Oakham Urgent Care Centre by:
- Visiting NHS 111 online or using the NHS App.
- Calling NHS 111 if you do not have online access or for children under 5.Â
- Via referral from a GP practice or the Clinical Navigation Hub.
- You can use this service as a walk-in patient (without an appointment), but it is advisable to use NHS111 to ensure you are guided to the most appropriate service with a confirmed appointment time or arrival time slot. This will minimise your waiting time and, where walk-in availability is limited, it will avoid long waits or signposting to alternative services.
To ensure you receive the best treatment, the reception team will ask you a series of questions about your condition, to help provide the best clinical assessment.
