The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Care Record is bringing together people’s care records from across the NHS and social care – and now with its latest development is joining up individuals’ records with LOROS Hospice.
The LLR Care Record means information recorded about someone’s health and care such as illnesses, treatments and hospital admissions can be accessed by different people who are directly involved in their care. Hospitals, GPs and other health and care workers have always tended to have separate records – the LLR Care Record allows the data from these to be seen in one place.
The addition of LOROS Hospice into the programme means that the organisation will be better informed about an individual’s care and treatment history and will be able to provide even better, person-centred care.
LOROS Hospice is a charity caring every year for more than 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The charity delivers free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their family and carers.
The LLR Care Record is being progressed by the LLR Integrated Care Board, University Hospitals of Leicester, Leicestershire Partnership Trust, the three upper tier local authorities (Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council) as well as other partners such as LOROS, DHU111 and care homes.
Laura Godtschalk, LLR Care Record programme manager, said: “We are enabling a number of pilot sites as we roll-out the programme and we are really pleased to be able to work with LOROS in this way. Giving LOROS staff access to more information will make things more efficient, enable more informed decisions, and improve the experience for patients, their families and carers.”
Gemma Miller, LOROS clinical systems and data lead, said: “Being part of the LLR Care Record means our clinical teams will gain a really comprehensive overview of patients’ treatment. It will help them to better manage symptoms and support patients holistically as they approach end of life.”

The website contains information about the programme, as well as a ‘frequently asked questions’ sheet, a public-facing leaflet and information on how a member of the public could choose to object to being included should they wish.
